City Folk Moving to the Country

It all begins with a dream. A dream to live closer to the earth, to slow down, to hear the birds more than the traffic, to eat more of our own food and to live aligned with the rhythms of nature. We looked at over 200 properties - many were lovely, but none called to us like the Hideaway Farm.

When we first arrived here, we felt that this was a place to recover the soul and to heal the body. We dove in head-first - looking after 24 chickens and 6 ducks over our first winter. Our three Icelandic sheep arrived two weeks into our move.
We were getting the barn ready for their arrival at 11pm the night before.

In that first winter we learned how to keep barn water from freezing, the value of a barn-cat, that snow fences are life-savers, and that walking through hip-deep snow drifts at 6am, in -25 degree temperatures to feed your animals is not so bad when you get to see a sunrise like this one.

From the start we knew we wanted to share this place with others - so we invite you to come, stay a while, recover your soul and heal your body.
